Open Floor

Tap and jazz for teens and adults, in the evening and on Saturday morning.

Come on your own. The Open Floor classes suit teens who like to move and adults who danced once and would like to again. The teacher begins with the basics each week, so a first night is never a late start.

What a class is like

  1. 01

    Step 1: Hello and warm-up

Names, a few easy stretches and a rhythm to wake up the feet.

  2. 02

    Step 2: The basics

The teacher goes back over the shuffle, the step and the ball change, for anyone new.

  3. 03

    Step 3: Across the floor

Short strings of steps in lines of three, at your own pace.

  4. 04

    Step 4: The combination

A few eights you can take home and practice in the kitchen.

  5. 05

    Step 5: Cool-down

A last stretch and a chat before the next class arrives.

What to wear and bring

  • Shoes

Clean sneakers or socks for the first weeks. We will tell you when tap or jazz shoes are needed.

  • Clothes

Whatever you can move in: leggings, shorts or loose trousers and a plain top.

  • Bring

A bottle of water and a towel. There are hooks in the hall for your bag.

Levels and your teacher

  • Level

    How a dancer moves up

Four levels share the floor, from First Steps to the Performance Group. The teacher and the family decide together, after a session, and there is no test.
