Tap
Levels by age, from the first shuffle to time steps.
Each class starts with a warm-up for the ankles and a few minutes of listening, then moves across the floor in lines of three, and ends with a combination that grows a little each week. Dancers are grouped by age and level, so a first-timer of 10 is never lost among dancers of 7.

What a class is like
- 01
Step 1: Warm-up
Ankles, toes and a slow walk around the room to wake up the feet.
- 02
Step 2: Listening
The teacher plays a rhythm with their feet, and the class answers it.
- 03
Step 3: Across the floor
Shuffles, flaps and ball changes in lines of three, with time to try each one twice.
- 04
Step 4: The combination
A short dance that grows a little each week and is shown to families on watch week.
- 05
Step 5: Cool-down
A last stretch and a few words about next week.
What to wear and bring
Shoes
Clean sneakers or socks for the first weeks. When the teacher says it is time, lace-up or strap tap shoes with a firm sole; ask us before you buy.
Clothes
Anything you can move in: leggings or shorts and a plain top. No leotard needed.
Hair and bag
Hair off the face. Tap shoes stay in a bag until the studio door, so the boards stay clean.
Levels and your teacher

How a dancer moves up
Four levels share the floor, from First Steps to the Performance Group. The teacher and the family decide together, after a session, and there is no test.
